What?
When it comes to medical horror fiction discussions theater often is omitted. It’s unusual to see very realistic gore on stage and the distance to the audience can be perceived as lack of an immersive experience. Yet, modern playwrights come back to medical horror stories over and over again. On top of that, there seems to be a lot of history between medicine and theater, even dating back to ancient times.
We will discuss the ways in which medicine and theater are correlated and how medical horror stories can thrive on stage. We will explore the universal nature of theater by analyzing the sources of fear in Starkid’s The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals as well. The goal of this meeting is for you to fall in love with medical horror theater, and hopefully, it will be met!
A must-watch before is The Guy Who Didn’t Like Musicals
An additional reading is Shaffer’s Equus (write to us, if you want to read it!)
