The (Im)perfect Body: Body Horror in the Magnus Archives

Wednesday, February 28, 2024
 4:45PM

You can get 3 OZN points for participating in this event.

Where?

Dobra 55, room  1.019
(the building features some mobility accommodations: ramp and lift)

What?

There are many kinds of terror. Fear of the dark. Of heights. Arachnophobia. Claustrophobia. The Lovecraftian horror of the unknown, and then there’s Body Horror. We often know that it is connected to the particular feelings of disgust, of having your body irreversibly changed, often in a horrific way. But where does such horror come from exactly? Well, we can find a possible answer in a horror anthology podcast, called The Magnus Archives. What if its source are… our own imperfections? Well, if you’d like to find out more, join my workshop, during which we will listen to a few episodes of The Magnus Archives and then discuss how Body Horror operates through sound and narrative.
Important: This workshop will include spoilers up to and including the final season of the podcast.

Who?

My name is Mateusz Skibiński. I am a third year student at the ASC. I have many interests: card games, tabletop miniature battles, and – horror, which I enjoy in multiple forms. From movies and books, up to video games and podcasts. I often listen to the latter while studying, going to class, or just on simple walks. One of those podcasts is The Magnus Archives. And I would love to introduce you to it!
