MA Gender and Sexuality

Gender and sexuality is a unique Polish-language program of study, arising from Polish and Anglo-American cultural studies conducted at the Institute of Polish Culture, the Center for American Studies, including the Gender/Sexuality Research Group, and entering into dialogue with other disciplines in the humanities and social sciences.

Gender and sexuality studies is an interdisciplinary research perspective geared towards the analysis of cultural and social phenomena. It serves to critically grasp our reality, constantly defined by the categories of gender and sexuality, and actively shape public space.

Why is gender a divisive term? Who doesn’t want same-sex marriage, and why? To what extent do women shape their reproductive health? Why did trans become the focal point of culture wars? Why saving women from the global South may be suspect? How can class divisions appear as gender differences? Over four semesters, the program of studies Gender and Sexuality will engage in the most current debates around these and similar questions in Poland and globally.
